Welding Companies - Online Strategy

If you are a company involved in welding products and services, you are obviously looking for ways to improve your online presence. Online presence can be very difficult to achieve particularly to get relevant traffic from the search engines, Google, Yahoo, Live etc.

Google currently dominates online search with almost 70% of the traffic, so it would be worthwhile focussing your efforts on Google search. Then the question is, what are the welding keywords that are being searched. I have found Google Trends as a useful tool to show some of this. Some of the leading keywords in welding are welding jobs, welding supplies, welding schools, welding equipment, welding symbols etc. Click the link below to see relative traffic for these keywords and how they stack up from different regions in the world.

http://www.google.com/trends?q=%22welding+jobs%22,+%22welding+supplies%22,+%22welding+symbols%22,+%22welding+school%22,+%22welding+equipment%22&date=all&geo=all&ctab=0&sort=0&sa=N

As you know, to get any reasonable amount of traffic from Google, your website has to appear in the first page (top 10) of the searches. Google also provides Adwords, where you can purchase ads on welding websites (that participate in the Google advertising program) for reasonable rates per click. Again, it depends on your advertising budget.

We have operated http://www.weldingjobs.com/ since 1999 and can tell you from experience that it is very important to get the right Domain Name for your product or service. This helps immensely in being ranked in the first page or not. WeldingJobs.com is currently offering advertising space for welding companies, if interested contact us at sastha.com.

Magnetic Impelled Arc Butt Welding (MIAB)

Magnetic Impelled Arc Butt welding or MIAB welding is used to weld tubular components made from ferrous metals. (photo courtesy KUKA). The process has several advantages compared to other competing technologies mainly:

- High Welding Speeds
- Small bead and low distortion compared to friction welding or arc welding
- Relatively small forging forces compared to friction welding
- No moving parts or moving arc by magnetic field around the tube

The process has niche application and hence there are not too many equipment makers. The major supplier is KUKA and another smaller supplier is Diverse. See equipment details. One of the knocks on this process is high initial investment for equipment.

If you are looking to weld tubular parts made from steel, check this process out.
